A Farewell

by your 2024-2025 editorial team

Readers, your editors are in disbelief that this is the last edition for the 2024-2025 school year. We’ve had a truly fantastic time getting to know all of you through your stories, art, and reviews. As 6 out of 7 editors are nearly finished with their time at Lewis and Clark, we’re using this piece to say goodbye for now…and announce our plans for next year. From all of us here at the Tribune, thank you for a wonderful year — we’ll see you in the fall!

P.S. Read to the end for a special announcement!

Caty Childress

Caty will be spending the next four years in Allentown, PA at Muhlenberg College for Theatre and English Literatures. Serving as this year’s arts editor has been an absolute privilege that she is more than grateful to have had. She plans to continue a path of storytelling and creating and hopes to always be honored with the opportunity to connect via art.

Sofia Hessler

After graduating, Sofia plans to attend the University of Washington's Foster School of Business. With some credits already under her belt from Running Start, she may pursue a double major or dual degree. Sofia is excited to explore Seattle, meet new people, and discover new interests.

Claire Lyle

Next year, Claire will be going to the University of Montana to major in Early Childhood Education in the Honors College. She is going to miss LC tons — the Rubber Chickens, May Weeks, and the long, unassuming afternoons spent in her favorite teachers’ classrooms. She’s excited to be the youngest at school again, and can’t wait to see what the next four years have in store.

Marton Mezei

Marton Mezei will be attending the University of Washington Honors Program, immersing himself in the interdisciplinary study that entails. He plans to explore the intersections of business, politics, and philosophy as he continues to be involved in education policy via his connections in Olympia and the Gates Foundation. He plans to build on his journalistic and community-oriented mindset that he developed working at both The Spokesman-Review and the Tiger Tribune. Marton hopes to expand his horizons by trying many new things and meeting many new people at UW and in Seattle.

Theodore O’Harra

Theodore O’Harra will be attending Seattle University this coming fall with a major in Communication and Media Journalism. Theo believes that independent journalism and the existence of a free press holds exorbitant value in today’s world, and hopes his passions for storytelling and knowledge will serve him well in the years to come. He cannot wait to start his adult journey, even if he’ll miss the many people and community he’s learned to love through his time at LC.

Mara Bech

Next year, Mara will be travelling to Taiwan to continue studying Mandarin at Tamkang University in New Taipei City with the National Security Language Institute for Youth program. The following four years, she will attend Wellesley College to major in International Relations and Chinese. She’s grateful for the time spent working with the Tribune team and is thrilled to be passing the role of Editor-in-Chief over to…

Laura Sheikh

A letter from your 2025-2026 Tiger Tribune Editor-In Chief

Hi! I’m Laura Sheikh and I’ll be your editor-in-chief next year! I am very excited to take on this role (in case the overusage of exclamation points didn’t convey that). My aim is to increase student engagement with the Tribune and make writing for it more accessible to the student body. Feel free to reach out at any time if you have a story idea, a magnificent work of art, or anything else you’d like to share with the school.
